Watford striker Richarlison will not face retrospective action from the FA after accusations that he dived to win a penalty in the win over Arsenal, Sky sources understand.
It is understood the incident is the first occasion the FA has reviewed an incident under new rules introduced this season that are designed to punish simulation.
But sources have told Sky Sports News that there is no conclusive proof that the Brazilian, who signed from Fluminense for £11.5m in the summer, deliberately went to ground under the challenge of Hector Bellerin.
The penalty was given and it was converted by Troy Deeney as the Hornets sealed a 2-1 win at Vicarage Road - and Wenger branded referee Neil Swarbrick's decision as "scandalous".
"I say it was no penalty, it was a creation from the referee and that is it," Wenger said. "As a moment in the game it was absolutely important for Watford. I just think it was no penalty, and no goal."
"I don't want to interfere with referee's decisions. I just want the right decisions to be made during the game."
Watford boss Marco Silva insisted it was no dive and said any retrospective action would be laughable.
Ex-Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher told Sky Sports News on Monday that he did not believe the contact from Bellerin warrented a penalty but the incident "does not fall into the remit of trying to deceive the referee" either.
"I feel sorry for the referee," Gallagher said. "There is a slight clip but not enough to give a penalty.
"The player has gone down so easily that he's made the referee's mind up for him. I don't think this will fall into the retrospective action category."
