Walter Mazzarri has emerged as the odds-on favourite to be the next Watford manager following the news that Quique Sanchez Flores will leave the club.
Sky Bet report that the former Napoli and Inter Milan boss was quickly backed in from 16/1 to just 1/5 after they released the market, having initially installed Roberto Martinez as their favourite.
The Italian, who has been out of work since he was sacked by Inter in November 2014, has reportedly already moved to England in anticipation of taking a job in the Premier League.
Martinez has drifted out to 12/1, alongside Manuel Pellegrini, David Moyes and Nigel Pearson, while Udinese manager Luigi Di Canio and Grenada boss Jose Manuel Gonzalez Lopez are also considered at the same price.
Sanchez Flores will leave the club after the season ends on Sunday having failed to activate an extension clause in his contract.
The Spaniard led the club to the FA Cup semi-final and comfortably steered them clear of relegation in their first season back in the top flight.
Watford parted company with Slavisa Jokanovic last summer after failing to agree a new deal with the manager who had led them to the Sky Bet Championship title.
