West Ham will implement "heightened" security measures for Saturday's Premier clash with Southampton at London Stadium in a bid to avoid the trouble which marred their last home match.
According to Sky sources, these additional security resources will cost the taxpayer in London £60,000.
The news of more security at the ground comes after supporters invaded the pitch on several occasions during a Premier League match against Burnley on March 10.
Almost 20 fans have been issued with lifetime bans following the shameful scenes during the 3-0 defeat by the Clarets and the club "expect additional bans to be confirmed imminently".
A large group of other fans congregated beneath the directors' box to protest against the club's board and objects were thrown, one of which hit co-owner David Sullivan.
The Hammers said in a statement that "a number of proactive steps" have been taken ahead of the weekend, which will include "a significantly enhanced number of police officers and security personnel".
"Every ticket holder is an ambassador for this club and we would like to remind those coming to London Stadium on Saturday of their responsibilities to themselves, their fellow supporters, the team and everyone associated with the club to support West Ham United in a passionate, respectful manner," the statement added.
"During the second half of that Burnley game, we witnessed scenes that none of us would like to see repeated and this Saturday we encourage you all to join us in backing the team in a hugely important fixture and make us all feel proud of West Ham United again."
Sir Trevor Brooking and captain Mark Noble appealed to fans to maintain the peace at the stadium ahead of Saturday's Premier League home match with London Mayor Sadiq Khan echoing their comments.
He said: "Nobody wants to witness scenes like those during the last home game, which were caused by a small minority.
"Members of the Safety Advisory Group, which includes West Ham, that meet before every home game have collectively agreed on a strong security plan for this weekend's game.
"The safety of all supporters and visitors to the London Stadium is of paramount importance. Included in these measures will be an increase in the number of stewards in the stands and pitch side as well as police units both inside and out."
A process to reduce the free flow around the stadium will also be implemented.
