West Ham want to sign Wilfried Bony from Manchester City, Sky sources understand.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international striker is one of a number of players available for sale from the Etihad this summer.

The Hammers have been desperate to sign a striker all summer and have missed out on the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Christian Benteke and Carlos Bacca.

Slaven Bilic called his West Ham's sides first win at the London Stadium

They brought in 22-year-old Jonathan Calleri on loan from Deportivo Maldonado but, with Andy Carroll, Andre Ayew, Sofiane Feghouli, Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini and Diafra Sakho all out injured, boss Slaven Bilic is keen to add another forward before the transfer deadline.

Bilic said to Sky Sports on Sunday that he thinks Bony is a good player and that he was meeting with the Hammers chairman and head of recruitment over transfers on Monday morning.

He said: "We are going to try to get one. The chairman is going to be very generous and he will get one if we find the proper one, it's very hard now.

"I am going to speak with the chairman and director of recruitment on Monday and if we get one, it's got to be a good one."

Bony signed for Manchester City in a £28m deal from Swansea in January 2015 but he has failed to make an impact in his 20 months at the club, and does not fit into new manager Pep Guardiola's plans.
