Fulham have reaffirmed their position that Tom Cairney is not for sale after interest from Middlesbrough, according to Sky sources.
A report emerged in the national newspapers on Sunday that the two clubs were in talks over a possible £7m deal.
But Boro will not be able to sign the 26-year-old this month and Sky sources also understand they are set to miss out on Paris Saint-Germain forward Jese Rodriguez, who is set to join Las Palmas on loan.
Cairney has been superb for the Whites this season, scoring five coals in 28 appearances, and is a key part of their plans for a top-six Championship finish.
Earlier in the window, Cairney told Sky Sports that his team-mates were poking fun at him about an apparent £20m price tag, reported by the national press.
When asked about his lucrative price tag on the EFL Weekly Podcast, he joked: "It's a bargain! The boys have put stuff on my locker about that price tag.
"If I misplace a pass in training, everyone shouts '£10m!' Everyone is on me. I take it as a compliment. I can't let it affect me. For those figures to be mentioned, I must be doing something right."
