Manchester City have had an £18m bid rejected for West Brom captain Jonny Evans, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News understands the Northern Ireland international has been on City manager Pep Guardiola's radar for several weeks.

City have turned to Evans with Dutch international Virgil van Dijk looking increasingly likely to remain with Southampton.

One source has told Sky Sports News that City have already had a bid turned down by West Brom for the former Manchester United centre-back but it is believed they will return with a third offer.
