Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini gives his reaction to Sky Sports before ending the interview abruptly

A frustrated Manuel Pellegrini said Manchester City played well in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United before walking out of the interview with Sky Sports.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the derby clash at the Etihad in the 16th minute as City's poor run of form continued.

Pellegrini's side are 15 points behind leaders Leicester with just eight games of the season to play.

The defeat is also their fifth at home this season, but Pellegrini refused to answer questions on why they have been unable to replicate their form at the Etihad from last year, when they lost just two matches.

"I'm only talking about the game, nothing more," said the Chilean before walking out of the interview with reporter Geoff Shreeves.

Earlier, Pellegrini, who is leaving City in the summer to be replaced by Pep Guardiola, said his side put in a good performance in the second half despite the result.

"We were the team what wanted to win for the whole game," he said. "The team that played for 95 minutes, but we missed our chances and made a mistake for their goal. We tried but we couldn't do it.

"In the first half before they scored we had control of the game, we had three or four clear chances to score, we couldn't do it, maybe in the minutes after the goal we didn't do so well but the second half was a good performance, good attitude, but we couldn't score."

While City remain fourth in the table, they lost both Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling to injuries and have won just one of their last five league games.

"We lost very important three points because they are also fighting for a Champions League place but we are not going to give up," said Pellegrini. "We are still fourth and all the teams are involved to try to reach the opposition."
