Manuel Pellegrini is hoping his second string team will produce the goods when Manchester City face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The two Premier League giants come face to face in the fifth round of the FA Cup, although Pellegrini will be resting his star players ahead of a Champions League trip to Dynamo Kiev in midweek.

City had wanted the tie staged on Saturday because they had already made plans to travel to Ukraine on Monday with the first leg, last 16 clash, being played on Wednesday.

Pellegrini's men also take on Liverpool next Sunday in the final of the Capital One Cup at Wembley and the Chilean said: "When young players have the opportunity, they must take their chance.

The team we are going to play against Chelsea will give young players a chance.

City have a number of injury worries, which is another reason for his decision to rest his big name players.
