Manuel Pellegrini says Manchester City will keep believing in an "impossible" quadruple while they remain in all four competitions.

City go to Everton on Wednesday for the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final, and the competition represents one of four routes to silverware still open to Pellegrini's side this season.

Wilfried Bony has joined Vincent Kompany and Samir Nasri on the sidelines ahead of Wednesday, but the striker is expected back from a calf injury at the weekend and Pellegrini believes his squad is in shape to chase all four trophies one game at a time.

He said: "We must beat Everton, then we can think about the first title and then we think about the best way to start the FA Cup - we must focus game by game regardless of the competition.

"Maybe it's impossible to win all of the competitions but your attitude and desire and having a winning mentality indicates you must believe you can.

"It's important when you're in a competition to try to win it. We've won three games and now we're in the semi-final. It's very beautiful to finish at Wembley in front of a lot of people."

Sergio Aguero was rested on Boxing Day but now has three appearances under his belt since returning from three weeks out with a heel problem, and Pellegrini hinted he will select the Argentine at Goodison.

"Sergio played three games in a week which was no problem for this moment," he said.

"The last injury was not a muscle injury, just a pain in his heel. He's fit and the best way for him to recover his best performance is to play games.

"We have a lot of games - fortunately we have most of the squad fit so we can make some changes to see which players start which games."
