Rafael Benitez has urged the Football Association to investigate chants aimed by Wolves fans at Newcastle's Jonjo Shelvey.
The Magpies boss has praised the midfielder for keeping his cool during their 1-0 victory at Molineux on Saturday which helped them return to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table.
Shelvey was given a five-match ban and fined £100,000 for using abusive and/or insulting words towards Wolves defender Romain Saiss when the two sides met last September.
And Benitez, whose side face Norwich City on Valentine's Day, said the FA should look into the chants aimed towards the midfielder.
"I think he did well, it was not easy for him," the Spaniard said.
"He's a professional and was quite focused on his football which we were looking for.
"I don't know how you stop it, they do investigations for other things, maybe you can do that for talking in the stands and abusing players."
Shelvey returned to action last month following his ban in December.
Meanwhile, Wolves boss Paul Lambert said he did not hear any abuse during the game.
He said: "Let the FA decide but I will stick up for Wolves fans here and say there was nothing in it whatsoever.
"I never heard anything and I thought our fans were brilliant.
"I won't let anybody criticise our supporters. I never heard anything derogatory."
