Newcastle have reduced season ticket prices by 10 per cent for next season after persuading Rafa Benitez to take on the challenge of guiding the club straight back into the Premier League.

The Spaniard signed a new three-year contract on Wednesday to stay on Tyneside and the Magpies have now announced across-the-board reductions in the hope of filling St James' Park next season.

Benitez said the fans were a huge influence in his decision to stay as Newcastle manager

"With our future under Rafa now secured, we're delighted to announce price reductions across the board for all supporters," said managing director Lee Charnley.

"Your loyalty through these challenging times has been magnificent and it's right that we now reward you with savings for our 16/17 Championship season."

The reductions mean category two season ticket holders will pay £520 compared with last season's £578.

Taking into account the four extra home fixtures Newcastle will play, the cost of attending each game has gone down from £30 to around £23.
