Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie describes John Terry as a 'Rolls-Royce'

Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie described defender John Terry as a Rolls-Royce in recognition of his experienced performances this season.

The former Chelsea captain has been a key player in Villa's push for promotion this season and is set to lead them out against Fulham on Saturday as the club aim to clinch a return to the Premier League in the play-off final.

Hendrie feels the way Terry has settled into the Villa team and had a calming influence on the squad has been crucial to their good form this year.

Hendrie told Sky Sports News: "Since he's come into the Aston Villa fold, having someone of his experience and knowledge, he has been absolutely superb.

"He's been like a Rolls-Royce at times - he reads the game so well, his last-ditch challenges.

"He has come under some scrutiny for a few goals they have conceded but overall I think he has been a really key player in that Villa structure and he's passed down a lot of knowledge to the younger lads in that Villa squad."

Terry, who played 18 times for England at Wembley, will provide invaluable experience for the side and will be hoping to have a strong, positive impact on the game.
