Kevin Wimmer has suggested he could consider his Tottenham future in January if he does not get more first-team football.
The Austria international centre-back has played just once for Spurs this season in the EFL Cup and twice been an unused substitute, missing out entirely on seven match-day squads.
Wimmer, who signed a new five-year contract in the summer, has struggled with minor muscle problems this term but he played 90 minutes as Austria drew 2-2 with Wales on Thursday, and he subsequently told Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung of his frustration.
"After last season, where I played towards the end quite frequently, I'm already down on other expectations for this season," he said.
"That (the injury I had) has taken me back a bit. It is difficult at the moment but I am patiently waiting for my chance. I try to always stay positive.
"The feedback from the club is always that they are very happy; that they see the future with me. This is very positive, but it is about the here and now."
Kleine Zeitung suggest Wimmer was asked whether he would consider his future in the next transfer window, and he said: "We will see what happens in the next few weeks; how much I start. We have a few midweek matches."
