Tottenham are interested in Espanyol's young goalkeeper Pau Lopez, according to Sky sources.

Reports in Spain have claimed the clubs have even held talks over a potential loan deal, with the view to a permanent move.

Spurs have been keen to sign a new young keeper for the future for some time and Sky sources understand their pursuit of Lopez, 21, is in no way related to the injury to Hugo Lloris.

Lloris is out for four weeks with a hamstring problem and the club have the experienced Michel Vorm to stand.

Mauricio Pochettino also has academy 'keepers Luke McGee and Tom Glover, who both went on their pre-season tour to Australia, to deputise.

We understand Lopez, who joined Espanyol as a trainee at 12 and has a Spain U21 cap, is one of a number of young keepers Spurs are looking at for the future.
