Mauricio Pochettino proud of Tottenham despite derby draw with Arsenal

Mauricio Pochettino gave his thoughts following Tottenham's 1-1 against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium

Mauricio Pochettino thought Tottenham deserved to win at Arsenal but declared himself proud of his players after a 1-1 draw.

Gunners defender Kieran Gibbs grabbed a late equaliser after Harry Kane had put Spurs 1-0 up in the first half, with the visitors dominating the majority of the Premier League game.

Pochettino was especially impressed with the effort in what was Tottenham's third match in six days, but he believes they should have killed the home side off when they had the chance.

"We should have won but I feel very proud. I thought it was brilliant. We played very well," he told Sky Sports after the 1-1 draw at Emirates Stadium.

"It was only that we needed to kill the game because in the second half we were 1-0 up and we had chances to score again.

"But in the end, I have to congratulate my players because we played three games in six days. We have always one day less for recovery, but it was brilliant.

"We showed great character and the way we want to play in a difficult place, against a very good team. I am very happy with the effort of my players."

"The way that we play, I think we need to have character and clear ideas," he added. "We are 11 games unbeaten and you can only feel very proud of that.

"We are pleased with the progress but we need to follow it up now; this is the game. We have two weeks to recover and prepare the team for the next few months.

Graeme Souness and Thierry Henry analyse man-of-match Dele Alli's performance during the North London derby between Arsenal and Spurs.
