Tottenham have confirmed midfielder Alex Pritchard will be sidelined for the rest of the year after undergoing surgery.
Pritchard, who has made two first-team appearances, originally sustained an injury to his right ankle while playing for England's U21s against Sweden at the European Championships in June.
The 22 year-old has now undergone corrective surgery and is expected to be out for at least three months.
Pritchard, who joined the Spurs academy from West Ham as an eight-year-old and signed his first youth contract at 16, made his first team-debut as an 18-year-old in 2011.
He scored 12 goals in 45 appearances last year for Brentford - his third loan spell following periods at Peterborough and Swindon - and was expected to challenge for first-team football at White Hart Lane this season.
