Everton manager Sam Allardyce believes Wayne Rooney's future will be decided by Wednesday.
Rooney is believed to have already said his goodbyes at Everton's Finch Farm training ground last Friday ahead of a proposed £12m move to DC United.
The MLS club's manager Ben Olson has since stated that the move is not yet done, and Allardyce has reiterated his position in relation to the potential transfer away from Goodison Park.
Speaking to Sky Sports News during a 'Season Review: Managers Special', he revealed there have been few developments - but he expects a decision in the next 48 hours.
He said: "There's no update. I said yesterday it's not in my hands now.
"I've dealt with Wayne, and it's moved on with his representatives and the board from here on in, which I believe may be Wednesday."
Allardyce secured eighth place for Everton in the Premier League after just two defeats in their final nine league matches.
For a club that has finished outside the top six in each of the previous three seasons and was struggling in the bottom half of the table prior to Allardyce's arrival, finishing just five points off a Europa League spot can be viewed as a sign of progress.
The former England boss has faced criticism from supporters for his style of play, however, with an increasing number calling for a change in manager, but Allardyce intends to honour his two-year contract, which expires next summer.
He added: "It's my job to turn that around. My job is to get better results for Everton, get better players, and play better. Then those fans enjoy their football a little bit more than they are at the moment.
"I've done all that I can, the backroom staff have done all that they can, and the players have done all that they can. In the January window, Farhad [Moshiri] backed us up with two very important signings [Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun].
"Both have been successful in what they've done and it's helped us get into the position we're in. Who knows what's going to happen next.
"The season's finished and I'm going to have a meeting with Farhad this week and then I'm going on my holidays."
