Burnley boss Sean Dyche admits it is “very flattering” to be linked with the managerial vacancy Everton.

Everton have confirmed U23s coach David Unsworth will take charge of team affairs for their Carabao Cup tie at Chelsea on Wednesday night.

But Dyche remains the early favourite to replace Ronald Koeman whose 16-month tenure at Goodison Park came to an end less than 24 hours after Sunday's 5-2 defeat to Arsenal.

"It's very flattering, I've been linked with other situations before," Dyche told Mail Online at FIFA's Best Football Awards in London on Monday night.

"I just keep getting on with my job until things change. It's out of my hands, I'm just getting on with what I do."

Dyche, who has spent five years at Turf Moor, guided Burnley to the Sky Bet Championship title in 2015/16 and has kept the club in the Premier League for the last two seasons.

His Burnley side are currently 10 league positions and five points clear of 18th placed Everton, who have lost five of their opening nine games of the season.

Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports Premier League on Monday night, former England defender Matthew Upson said Dyche would be a "logical appointment", insisting the 46-year-old fits the Everton blueprint.

Ryan Giggs has already expressed an interest in the Everton job as well as the vacant managerial position at Leicester following Craig Shakespeare's sacking last week.

Dyche has also been linked with Leicester but one man who is interested in speaking to The Foxes as well as Everton is ex-Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, according to Sky sources.

Pellegrini is currently in charge of Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune.
