Tubes chats to Everton defender Phil Jagielka about Wayne Rooney's return to Goodison Park, that goal against Liverpool and a whole lot more on Soccer AM this week.
Everton travel to the Etihad to take on Manchester City on Monday Night Football and Tubes grilled the Toffees centre-back ahead of the game in an interview that will air on Saturday's show.
Ronald Koeman has spent heavily since Romelu Lukaku's departure to Manchester United, but the Belgian's exit has seen Rooney return to Goodison from Old Trafford and Jagielka has saluted the man who scored the winner in the club's opening win over Stoke.
"Wayne came up with a header just after half-time," Jagielka told Tubes. "It was brilliant.
"There were whispers for a while as he did not play so much football last season. You read the papers and there are offers here and offers there, and you are not sure if we can compete.
"But speaking to Wayne it was obvious how desperate he was to come back and complete the circle and prove to people that he still has the capabilities of playing in the best league in the world.
"Since he has come in, he has been fantastic both on and off the field, got goals in pre-season and settled really well into the changing room.
"First game of the season, you want someone to step up and fire home the winner and Wayne was there."
As well as Rooney's Toffees homecoming and his initiation song, Jagielka discusses the other new arrivals on Merseyside this summer - including fellow central defender Michael Keane - his own future at the club after recently agreeing a new deal, and the upcoming charity match in aid of Bradley Lowery.
Watch Soccer AM - featuring Tubes' interview with Jagielka - on Saturday at 10am on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Football.
