Everton manager Ronald Koeman admits the club are closing in on signing Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea.

Ronald Koeman says Everton are “close” to completing a deal for Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Iceland international has been linked with a move to Goodison Park all summer, with both the Toffees and Leicester having had £40m bids rejected by Swansea, who value the player at £50m.

Swans boss Paul Clement recently said "nothing has changed" with regards to the ongoing transfer saga, but speaking after Everton's 2-2 friendly draw with Sevilla on Sunday, Koeman was optimistic of securing the 27-year-old and said he still wanted to add three new faces to his squad.

"Everybody knows we are looking for three more players - a left centre-back, a left full-back, a player who can play out of both positions, a winger and a striker and that's the picture, what the best is for our team and we will see what we can do," Koeman told Sky Sports News.

"We are close [on Sigurdsson], we have to wait. But still, the deal is not done."

Aaron Lennon was not in the Everton squad for the draw with the Spanish side, their last pre-season fixture before they kick off their Premier League campaign at home against Stoke on Saturday.

He has been linked with a move to Watford but Koeman said he was unaware of any interest in the 30-year-old.

"The reason that he wasn't in the squad is that he was not fit to play today. I don't know about any interest for Aaron, I don't know," he said.

Everton have added Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Jordan Pickford, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney to their squad this summer.

"We know the transfer window is at the end of this month and we have time, that means for everybody."
