Premier League strugglers wary of Arsene Wenger's selection dilemma

A number of the Premier League’s relegation-threatened teams will be closely monitoring events in Madrid on Thursday, to see if Arsenal make it through to the final of the Europa League.

The final takes place in the Stade de Lyon on May 16, just three days after Arsenal travel to Huddersfield for their final league match of the season.

Sources at several Premier League clubs, including Swansea, West Ham and Southampton, have told Sky Sports News they are aware Arsenal's progress beyond the semi-finals could lead to Arsene Wenger fielding a weakened line up, 74 hours before the Lyon final, his last game in charge.

As well as Arsenal, Huddersfield face Manchester City and Chelsea in their last three games and sit 16th, three points above the relegation zone.

Premier League rule L.19 states that "In every League Match each participating Club shall field a full strength team."

The league defines a full strength team as one picked from the club's official 25-man PL squad.
