Jurgen Klopp expects other Liverpool players to follow Roberto Firmino's lead and commit their long-term futures to the club.

Firmino agreed an improved five-year contract on Sunday, as the Reds look to tie down their major stars.

Emre Can's deal expires in the summer and Klopp has not ruled out the Germany midfielder recommitting, while the likes of James Milner, Alberto Moreno and Ragnar Klavan are about to enter their final years.

"(Roberto's deal); this is one very important step, absolutely," Klopp said. "But even Roberto cannot play alone.

"We need to carry on in this way. At the moment, every player knows about our plans. He's the first (to commit) but, for sure, he won't be the last."

Firmino has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season and is an instrumental part of Liverpool's three-pronged attack alongside Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Jurgen Klopp is a 'father-figure' who can 'read your mind', according to Roberto Firmino's team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold

Klopp, whose side travel to Roma 5-2 up in their Champions League semi-final tie on Wednesday, insists Firmino is highly-valued within the walls of Anfield and the fact he is staying bodes well for the future.

"This constant discussion about whether he's undervalued, or whatever, in public; this never happened for one second either in the club or in the team," Klopp said.

"He knows and appreciates, absolutely, this club. The other boys really respect him for all the work he's doing. He feels completely comfortable and is planning for the long-term here.

"That's becoming rare because if you are not Barcelona or Real Madrid then there's usually another club, somewhere, you can go to. It's really good news for us. He's absolutely a big factor in our future."
