Jurgen Klopp has vowed Liverpool will remain faithful to injured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain "like a good wife when a man is in prison".
Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss the remainder of Liverpool's season and this summer's World Cup after injuring his knee ligament in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma.
The England midfielder said he was "devastated" by the injury, but said he would do everything to return to action as soon as possible.
"I have no words," said Klopp. "I cannot believe that this wonderful player, person, boy, guy, in such a positive situation helping the team - a clear, clear challenge - something like this can happen.
"It's just a shame. It's not fair. That's how life is sometimes. If you get a lemon, make lemonade from it.
"That's what we have to do, what Alex is doing. He's a positive person. He will be back.
"I told him already we will wait for him like a good wife when a man is in prison."
Sadio Mane also has a minor injury ahead of Liverpool' game against Stoke on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
"It is not that serious; there is a chance for tomorrow," said Klopp. "If we use that chance or not… it is quite early in the day."
