Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool are unfazed by the prospect of playing Europe's top clubs, claiming they can compete with anyone.

Liverpool are in Portugal ahead of their last-16 tie against Porto on Wednesday, and a win over two legs could secure their place in the Champions League quarter-final for the first time since 2009.

Klopp argued that Manchester City have been the strongest team on the continent this term and their 4-3 win over Pep Guardiola's side last month demonstrated they can challenge anyone in Europe.

"I know it already we can compete with them, I don't have to look at them," Klopp said.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned his side not to underestimate Porto when the two sides meet in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie tonight.

"I think probably the strongest football team in this moment in Europe is Manchester City and we played them twice already at the highest level (they lost the first encounter 5-0 after having Sadio Mane sent off in the first half).

"The Premier League is a little different but if we meet them (City) then we could beat them. That is how it is. But it is not important right now. We are in Porto and that is the only thing.
