Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he is mystified by the Senegal manager's claim that Sadio Mane will be fully fit by November.
The pacy forward has been out since suffering a hamstring injury on international duty earlier this month, missing Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Manchester United and a 7-0 Champions League thrashing of Maribor.
However, Mane has been named in the Senegal squad for a pair of World Cup qualifiers against South Africa in mid-November and manager Aliou Cisse said: "In my mind, there is no doubt he will be us for the double-header against South Africa and that he will be 100 percent fit."
Cisse also claimed Mane will start training harder next week but Klopp told the media on Friday he is baffled by such claims.
"I don't know how he can know," said Klopp. "I don't know, so that's how it is.
"Sadio is still in rehab, still indoors, so that is the situation at the moment
"If he is fit earlier, I would be really happy, but nobody knows at this moment, so nothing else to say.
"They have very important games, I think they need one point, so let's hope they qualify.
"I can imagine they are feeling the pressure a little bit but we cannot change the situation.
"If Sadio is fit, we cannot hide it, why should we do it?
"If he is fit, we can do nothing to keep him here and he would go to the national team of Senegal."
