Liverpool's Sadio Mane scoops two Player of the Year awards

Sadio Mane celebrated his first season at Anfield with two awards as he was named Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season on Tuesday.

The Senegal international has contributed an impressive 13 goals from 27 appearances since moving to Merseyside from Southampton for a fee of £36m.

"I just want to thank my team-mates and supporters for giving me this honour," he said.

"It means so much to me. I feel at home at this club and in this city.

"My team-mates, the staff, the manager and the supporters have all made me feel so welcome since I joined the club.

"I have loved every minute of playing for Liverpool this season and can't wait to get back fit to help the team again."

Emre Can's stunning over-head kick - the audacious stoppage-time winner in his side's 1-0 victory over Watford - earned the Germany international the award for Goal of the Season.

Meanwhile, Lucas Leiva was handed the Special Recognition Award, in what is his 10th season at the club.

The 30-year-old, currently the club's longest serving player in Jurgen Klopp's side, said: "I'm very proud of this moment. I hope we'll all be celebrating in two weeks!"

Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up the award for Young Player of the Season, having emerged as one of the Reds' brightest young talents since graduating from the club's youth system.
