Liverpool's academy director Alex Inglethorpe has signed a multi-year contract, committing his future to developing talent at the club.

Inglethorpe joined Liverpool in 2012 as Under-21 manager and became academy director in 2014 overseeing a youth structure which has produced several first-team players.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised the work of Inglethorpe.

"I think we have shown that with the work Alex and his staff do, we offer a clear pathway to first-team football if the players embrace what is on offer for them," he said.

"We have a clear philosophy and direction and that benefits each and every young person who comes into our system at Liverpool," he said.

"I'm very proud of what we've achieved so far and excited at the further progress we can make, thanks in no small part to the backing of our ownership group, Jurgen, the first-team staff and our football operations structure."
