Mamadou Sakho has been told it will be in his best interests to move to another club on loan for the sake of his Liverpool and international career, according to Sky sources.
Although the France international, 26, is highly rated by Jurgen Klopp, the manager believes the centre-back needs game-time, while his opportunities at Liverpool will be limited.
The Merseyside club have already accepted one loan offer from Stoke, but the player turned the move down.
It is understood Klopp still expects Sakho to have a big future at Liverpool, but wants him to spend the season playing regular football at a top-flight club.
Klopp sent Sakho home early from the club's pre-season tour of the United States after the defender missed a flight to California, a squad meal and missed a treatment session.
