Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will take no risks by bringing Philippe Coutinho back from a hamstring injury quicker than needs be.
Coutinho missed the 5-0 EFL Cup win over Burton Albion on Tuesday and is a doubt for Liverpool's Sky Live date with Tottenham on Saturday lunchtime as well.
The Brazil forward scored twice in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Arsenal on the opening weekend of the 2016-17 season but Klopp, given the options he has in offensive positions, will not recall him to the starting XI unless he is 100 per cent.
"The muscle was a little stiff. He felt something so we didn't want to take a risk [against Burton]," Klopp said on Liverpool's official website.
"We left him out of training until now. We have to make a decision what we can do with him.
"It is not a situation to take any risk. We have to talk to the player.
"From the medical side, it is not a big issue, but it was big enough to leave him out of the squad for Burton."
