Luis Suarez makes surprise Liverpool visit while on holiday

Luis Suarez has paid a visit to Liverpool's training ground to catch up with his old team-mates

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez made a surprise return to Liverpool's Melwood training ground while on holiday.

Suarez, who played at Liverpool between 2011 and 2014, appeared in a video posted by former team-mate Mamadou Sakho on social media.

The Frenchman announces to the camera: "We have a special visit today at Melwood from… Luis Suarez."

Suarez is in Liverpool on a short break, and arrived at Melwood with his children. He met his former team-mates, before watching Jurgen Klopp's side train.

"It was fantastic to see the lads," Suarez told the club's website. "The people that work here are really nice and I miss them so I wanted to come and see some friends. I have really good friends here.

"I had a really good moment here in three and a half years and when you have a really good moment in your life, it is something you remember.

"I always try to watch the games and look out for the results. I am very interested in how Liverpool are doing because they are so important in my life."

Suarez joined Liverpool in January 2011 in a £22.8m deal from Ajax and went on to score 69 goals in a 110 league games for the club.

The 29-year old found the net 31 times in 33 league games in the 2013-14 season, as Brendan Rodgers' side finished two points behind champions Manchester City, before leaving for Barcelona in a £75m deal

Suarez began the season with a four-month ban but returned to score 25 goals in all competitions as Barcelona completed a Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey treble.

This season, Suarez has scored 42 goals to his name and has more than 100 goals combined with strike partners Lionel Messi and Neymar.
