Jurgen Klopp hails 'perfect result' as Liverpool beat Swansea

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he is proud of the fight his players showed in their win over Swansea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he is proud of the fight his players showed in their 1-0 win over Swansea.

James Milner scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot just after the hour mark in difficult conditions at Anfield as the Reds rose to sixth in the Premier League.

"It was the perfect result against a very strong opponent," Klopp told Sky Sports. "They defended really well so it was a difficult game, we had to change it in the second half and it was difficult with the wind.

"You're always a bit disappointed when the passes aren't coming [because of the conditions] but tonight it was really good and if you want [positive] results in a row you have to fight for them.

"There are some teams in the world who are always winning 3-0 or 4-0, but we are not a team like that so we have to fight for it. I'm really proud tonight."

While goalscorer Milner admitted that the performance wasn't Liverpool's best, he was happy to get the victory.

"It wasn't the prettiest of games and we didn't play well, but we got the win and I think that's what good teams do," said Milner.

Milner also said he was delighted with the return of Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson, who were both introduced as second-half substitutes after returning from injury.

"[It was] brilliant to see them out there," said Milner. "They've both been big misses for us and it's great to have them back. It shows the strength in depth in the squad."
