Chelsea have made an approach to Roma for their defender Emerson Palmieri, according to Sky in Italy.

It is understood that a full-back is Chelsea manager Antonio Conte's main priority this month and that Roma are prepared to let him go for a fee of around £20m.

Sky Italia say the player is keen on the move, and wants to work with Conte, with Chelsea his preferred destination.
