John Terry refused to rule out retiring from football at the end of the season

John Terry has not ruled out retiring after Chelsea's final game of the Premier League season on Sunday.

The club captain made his first league start since September as a much-changed Chelsea celebrated winning the title with a thrilling 4-3 win over Watford on Monday.

Terry, who scored in the victory, announced in April that he will be leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer.

And he told Monday Night Football that he could even quit football after the match against Sunderland on Sunday.

"I know I said I wanted to play regular football, but I have not ruled out Sunday being my last game and retiring," he said.

"It depends if the right offer comes along then I will sit and consider it with my family, whether it's here or abroad, but I haven't made any decisions yet and I am just evaluating my options.

Gary Neville outlined four big challenges which Antonio Conte must overcome to keep pushing Chelsea forward

"I never wanted to be that player just hanging about that people can't wait to get rid of or stopping the progress of a younger player coming through.

"The transition for me being on the bench and seeing it from a different aspect this year has served me well and will do if I go into management in the future."

After starting 24 league games last season, Terry has only made a handful of appearances under Antonio Conte this campaign.

But he says he does not hold any grudge against the Chelsea boss.

"He has been brilliant with me," he said. "Leaving me out of the side was probably a tough decision, but he pulled me in his office straight away and was very honest.

"I have never really had the relationship I've had with the manager this year; the honesty, the respect and the communication has been fantastic. As a player that's all you want.

"The manager made it very clear to me that you can work as hard as you want but if the other players are playing well and the team are winning you're not going to get back in.

"I was sitting there hoping the boys did well and kept winning. I've had my time. He has been fantastic and has been great example for me to hopefully add to my coaching."
