Club skipper Terry has only played five league games for the club this season, as a mixture of injury and consistent form from other defenders at the club has kept him on the sidelines.

Cahill by contrast has played in all but one of the Blues' league games to date, captaining the side for the majority of the campaign.

As such, despite club legend Terry's impending departure from Stamford Bridge after collecting what will be a record fifth Premier League winners' medal as captain, the 36-year-old revealed to Sky Sports News HQ after the West Brom victory, his plans to share the moment with Cahill.

"Didier [Drogba] when he came back as well, and listen Gaz [Cahill] has been on the pitch week-in week-out, so it's him allowing me to go with him. He's been different class.

"Listen it's fantastic for me but these boys have been on the field doing it week-in, week-out. Everyone's been brilliant so I'm delighted and it's been a delight for me to sit there and watch it and see it from a different perspective.

"I'm delighted for the boys and everyone at the football club.

"The togetherness we've shown from day one, even when we lost games early on. When we lost to Arsenal away, when we lost to Liverpool at home, the togetherness to come back and regroup and go on that winning streak we went on was incredible and fundamental to our season."

England international Cahill echoed Terry's sentiments on The Hawthorns pitch following their victory, talking up the character and togetherness shown by the whole Blues squad during the campaign.

"People write you off. The team last season, individually at the start of the season maybe. This is the only way to shut people up and prove people wrong," Cahill told Sky Sports.

"At times in football that's all you can do as a player. You go out, you deliver, you let everybody else do the talking and make excuses for you and then go out and produce.

"We're champions today, we've won a league. It's another one in the cabinet, this man's [Terry] got plenty in his cabinet. I'm delighted. This is a special group of players and to show the character we've shown this season after last year is tremendous.

"Every single one of us is together in that dressing room. You see Michy [Batshuayi] come on here and score the winner. Ultimately he's won us the league today with that goal, so it's fantastic."
