N'Golo Kante tips Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard for PFA award

By Stephen Turner

N'Golo Kante has been tipped to win the Player of the Year award, but he thinks there are plenty of other worthy contenders - including Eden Hazard

N'Golo Kante is backing "different-class" Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard to win the PFA Player of the Year award.

Kante stands to become the first outfield player to win successive Premier League titles with different clubs and is Sky Bet's overwhelming favourite for the annual individual award.

But the France midfielder, signed from Leicester last summer, has highlighted the contribution of 2015 winner Hazard in helping Chelsea establish a seven-point lead with eight games to play.

The Belgian's double settled Wednesday night's game against Manchester City and took him to 13 league goals this season.

And Kante, who cannot vote for a club-mate under PFA rules, told Sky Sports News HQ: "For me it's easy to say one player from Chelsea. We can all see what Eden Hazard is doing. He's a different-class player."

Chelsea's players are sticking rigidly to manager Antonio Conte's line that the title is a long way from being decided, and Kante is no different.

"We still have eight games and we have to win six," he said. "Tottenham are a good team playing very well, so it's not done and we have to fight.

"Maybe Tottenham and Liverpool are going to come back so we have to focus on our game and play game-after-game for the title.

"Mathematically we need six wins, so we just need to focus on our way and win six games as soon as possible for this title."
