Paul Pogba craves love of Man Utd boss, says Yaya Toure

Speaking on MNF, Toure believes Pogba has more belief in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now than under Jose Mourinho

Yaya Toure analyses Paul Pogba's recent form and insists he has more belief in his manager now

Paul Pogba has more belief in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now and wants to "feel the love" from his manager, Yaya Toure said in his analysis of the Manchester United midfielder on Monday Night Football.

The former Manchester City midfielder is a keen admirer of Pogba, who has enjoyed an up-turn in form under Solskjaer after the sacking of Jose Mourinho, winning six games on the trot.

Toure feels Pogba has to feel a connection with his manager and believes the Frenchman has the character attributes to be a leader.

"To be honest I think Paul now has more belief in his manager," Toure said on MNF. "His manager has put him in the situation like he is the boss. 'You have to deliver… you have to push the team forward.'

"He has the quality to do that because when you see the World Cup in Russia, it was a big example. We caught some clip of him talking to his team-mates in the dressing room, it was amazing.

"He's the type of player who wants to have this connection with his manager, being trusted by him, telling him to push, feeling the love.

"That's good for United, and good for the fans as well, because this type of player always has to shine, show his quality. At the moment it is going very well."

Pogba has scored more goals in five Premier League appearances under Solskjaer than he had in the first 14 this season under Mourinho, as well as producing more touches, touches in opposition box, shots, open play chances and sprints per game.

Pogba said himself after the 1-0 win at Tottenham on Super Sunday that he is enjoying the system used by Solskjaer after admitting the previous one under Mourinho was "difficult".

Mourinho had been criticised for his use of Pogba in a deeper role this season, as had the midfielder himself for his performances, and Toure insists it is impossible to use him as a defensive midfielder like France team-mate N'Golo Kante.

Comparing Pogba's attitude to his own, Toure said: "A player like me, I just want to give more, produce more, and I like the challenge. Sometimes it has been very difficult because to be able to deliver your best qualities, you can't say to Pogba to be like N'Golo Kante or Blaise Matuidi, it is impossible.

"But what he has delivered in the past at Juventus… he can shoot from far, dribble, give passes like he did this weekend against Tottenham. It's what the fans want and what the club has paid for in this type of player. Just make sure it continues.

"He has to now continue to believe in himself. Criticism is going to come in all day long, but he's a professional man, and you have to accept it and continue to work hard."
