Marcel Desailly believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could provided some luck for new Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is now "at peace" ahead of his job with Manchester United following a torrid final six months at Chelsea, says Marcel Desailly.

Mourinho, who has replaced Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, was sacked at Chelsea after a poor first half to the 2015/16 campaign, despite having won the Premier League title the previous season.

Desailly, who played at Chelsea between 1998 and 2004, said he met Mourinho in Mexico, and believes his bad experiences at Stamford Bridge are well and truly behind him.

"I was with him in Mexico with FIFA so we had time to chat," said Desailly. "So he is now at peace. He had time to think and see what is going on in football and what is the new objective of United.

"I'm just happy he is coaching again and what is good to see is how he fell and how he is going to come up.

"Is he going to be the same [manager]? Did he learn from the media interview that he made when he was really under pressure? I'm just happy that he is coaching again."

Mourinho has won the Premier League three times, and with United without any title success since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013, pressure on the Portuguese boss is high.

Joining Mourinho in Manchester could be Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is close to signing for United, according to Sky sources.

Desailly praised Ibrahimovic for boosting French football, and believes the 34-year-old will find his way again having been a success in Holland, Italy, Spain and France.

"I'm sure Zlatan will find his way. I'm happy to see him, to see what he has done for French football, brought the interest into the system, and raised the level of interest in football.

"When you look at the statistics for him in every single country he has been, he has been successful."
