Harry Kane at 100 Premier League games: Where does his scoring record rank?

By Nick Wright

Harry Kane took his Premier League goal tally to 59 in 100 appearances as he scored twice in Tottenham's 4-1 thrashing of Watford, but how does his record compare to Premier League strikers past and present?

The England international slotted home Tottenham's opener from Kieran Trippier's pass in the first half at Vicarage Road, and he netted his second with a volley from the same player's cross just six minutes later.

Kane has now scored 10 Premier League goals in his last 11 appearances, and his overall tally puts him level with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who also netted 59 times in his first 100 games for the Gunners.

Most goals after 100 Premier League games

Player Club Goals
Alan Shearer Blackburn 79
Ruud van Nistelrooy Man Utd 68
Sergio Aguero Man City 64
Andy Cole Newcastle/Man Utd 63
Fernando Torres Liverpool 63
Robbie Fowler Liverpool 62
Luis Suarez Liverpool 62
Thierry Henry Arsenal 59
Harry Kane Tottenham 59
Ian Wright Arsenal 56

The best record belongs to Alan Shearer, who netted a remarkable total of 79 goals in his first 100 Premier League appearances for Blackburn Rovers between 1992 and 1996.

Ruud van Nistelrooy comes closest to Shearer's record having netted 68 times in his first 100 Premier League appearances for Manchester United starting in 2001.

Sergio Aguero, meanwhile, has the best record of current players and ranks third overall having scored 64 goals in his first 100 Premier League appearances after joining Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

Aguero is just ahead of Andy Cole and Fernando Torres, who netted 63 goals each in their first 100 Premier League games for Newcastle and Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.

Below Cole and Torres in the top 10 are former Liverpool duo Robbie Fowler and Luis Suarez, who netted 62 goals in their first 100 Premier League appearances for the Merseysiders.

Kane has scored three more than Ian Wright, who rounds off the top 10 with 56 goals in his first 100 Premier League games for the Gunners in the Premier League's early years.

Kane's record places him firmly among some of the Premier League's greats. Spurs supporters will be hoping he continues in the same vein in the years ahead.
