European Paper Talk: Man City to revive Isco interest

By James Nalton, Football Whispers

With the opening of the January transfer window just two months away, there is already plenty of talk about who might be on the move around Europe.

Our friends at Football Whispers have scoured the continent to bring you all the latest transfer news and gossip from the European newspapers.

Spain

Manchester City will renew their interest in Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco, having been linked with him in the summer. City manager Pep Guardiola rates the Spaniard highly and is one of the players high on his list of possible future signings. The former Barcelona manager thinks he can convince Isco, who has been linked with Juventus and PSG, to come to the Premier League, despite having just signed a new contract in Madrid. (Don Balon)

France

Paris Saint-Germain's sporting director, Antero Henrique, has made Philippe Coutinho the club's priority signing, and will challenge Barcelona for his signature next year. PSG met with the Brazilian's agent, Kia Joorabchian, to inform him that he is their No 1 target, and even though Barcelona is the Liverpool midfielder's preferred destination, he could be persuaded to move to Paris by his friend Neymar. PSG are also interested in Fluminense midfielder Wendel. Last season's Ligue 1 runners-up have singled the player out as a back-up option for Marco Verratti. The 20-year-old is likely to cost around €12m and they will face competition for his signature from Porto, Benfica, and Ajax. (Telefoot)

Meanwhile, PSG outcast Hatem Ben Arfa is wanted by new Leicester City manager Claude Puel. The French winger is yet to make an appearance for the club this season, and is likely to be sold in January. (Various)

Turkey

Arda Turan will leave Barcelona in January and Fenerbahce have joined the race to sign the Turkish winger. The 30-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs, including Inter Milan and Monaco, as well as a move to China. A move to Fenerbahce may cause some problems, though, with Turan having started his career at Istanbul rivals Galatasaray. (Mynet)

Bayern Munich are looking for a new striker as current star centre-forward Robert Lewandowski has said that he needs backup in the position. "At this moment there is no other option. We do not have a back-up in my position. I also wanted to get some rest," he said. The club's sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, has recognised the problem, and said that they will sign a striker to support the Poland international in January. (Bild)

Italy

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Napoli midfielder Jorginho, and hope to make a move next year. With Napoli riding high in Serie A, and a Brazilian national team call up on the horizon, the player is unlikely to leave in January, but a summer move could be on the cards. (Tuttomercato)

Inter Milan will make a move for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala. The centre-back has struggled to make an impact at the club since moving from Porto in 2014. Inter are likely to secure his services for a much lower price should Guardiola's side be able to source a replacement. (Tuttosport)
