Pep Guardiola has confirmed Ederson suffered no broken bones after Liverpool forward Sadio Mane was sent off for his high challenge on the Manchester City goalkeeper.
The 24-year-old was carried off on a stretcher shortly before half-time - with City winning 1-0 - after being caught in the face by a high boot from Mane on the edge of the 18-yard box.
Mane appeared to have his eyes on the ball, but was still given his marching orders by referee Jon Moss and is now set to miss Liverpool's next three matches.
Ederson, who was replaced by Claudio Bravo, was able to take his place on the bench before the full-time whistle having been assessed by the City medical team.
"I spoke to the doctor and he said it's not a broken bone, so that is of course so important," said Guardiola following his side's 5-0 win at the Etihad.
It was also revealed on Saturday evening that Ederson had not suffered any concussion.
Guardiola added: "I think this kind of action, Mane didn't see, he's looking at the ball and then the impact is huge.
"I don't know if it's a red card, but I'm pretty sure the red card for Kyle Walker against Everton was not."
Ederson later said on his official Twitter account: "Hello everyone, I'm OK, it was a shock. Important victory, thank you for all the messages."
