Usain Bolt has been offered a contract by Australian side Central Coast Mariners, according to the agent of the multiple Olympic champion.
The eight-time gold medallist has been on trial with the New South Wales club and scored twice in a friendly last weekend.
That has led Bolt's agent Ricky Simms to claim he has been offered a deal by the A-League side, although the club's coach Mike Mulvey could not say if that was true.
"I can confirm Usain has been offered a contract by Central Coast Mariners," said Bolt's agent Ricky Simms.
Bolt began a trial with the A-League club in August, following short spells trying to secure a club in Germany, Norway and South Africa.
But despite Simms' confidence that a deal has been struck for Bolt to join the Mariners, Mulvey said he did not know if that was the case when he spoke to the media after Sunday's 1-1 draw against Brisbane Roar in the season opener.
"We don't talk about speculation. I don't know anything about that. It is a few pay-grades above my level," said Mulvey.
"I do appreciate how important this story is for the rest of the world. You're just talking about speculation, I don't know anything about what you're talking about and that's the God's honest truth.
"You have a look at our front line today and you wonder whether he could get into any of those positions."
Simms also revealed last week that Bolt had turned down the opportunity to join Maltese club Valletta on a two-year contract.
