Sean Dyche insists Burnley’s 2-0 victory against Liverpool will give his side a huge psychological lift in their bid to stay in the Premier League.

Goals from Sam Vokes and Andre Gray handed the newly-promoted side their first win of the season and Dyche believes it will give his side belief as they move forward this season.

"It's important psychologically to get your first win," the Burnley manager told Sky Sports.

"On the occasions that you are playing the clubs like Liverpool it's even more important to give belief to everyone.

"They can keep the ball and they certainly fill the midfield. At times there's five in there and even six at others. The centre forward also drops in and they try to play rotational, popping the ball around.

"Your players have to see through that and realise they weren't opening us up. It's an important factor and they have to stay diligent to the plan and that's what they did today.

"I'm very happy for our players against a very good side."
