Danilo produced a moment of magic to secure Real Madrid a narrow 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup.

As the game in front of over 82,000 fans at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey looked to be heading for a penalty shoot-out, the Brazil international popped up with a superb winner in the 79th minute to secure Los Blancos their second pre-season friendly success in a week.

Both teams named strong sides from the off, with Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema notable absentees for their respective teams.

Bayern had the best of the early exchanges, going close twice in a matter of minutes when David Alaba fired just wide from a free-kick and Arturo Vidal was unable to capitalise on a great ball over the top.

From the same distance, Alaba went even closer after 26 minutes, but saw his flighted free-kick come back off the post, with Real Madrid stopper Kiko Casilla rooted to the spot.

Casilla was called into action on 32 minutes to brilliantly parry Thiago Alcantara's fierce strike wide as Bayern pressed once more.

It took until the 38th minute for Real to produce any real attempt on Bayern's goal, with James Rodriguez fizzing an effort wide from distance.

After the break, Real went on the attack and nearly broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute. Isco collected a cross, turned and blasted an effort across the face of the goal, but it hit the post and came agonisingly out and away from danger. The rebound was then crossed by Marco Asensio to a wide open Daniel Carvajal but the defender shanked the kick.

Luckily for the European champions, team-mate Danilo was more successful. Martin Odegaard moved the ball to the Brazilian, who darted inside, slipped past Thiago and fired a left-footed strike past Sven Ulreich in the Bayern goal.

Bayern had an opportunity to level the match soon after play restarted when Fabian Benko was fouled by Marcos Llorente in a dangerous position. Unfortunately for the Germans, Thiago's attempt from the free kick went wide and Real saw the game out with ease.
