Hull City have confirmed they have not received an approach from the Football Association to speak to their manager Steve Bruce.
Bruce has been linked with the job as the FA seeks a replacement for Roy Hodgson, who resigned in the wake of England's embarrassing Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Iceland.
It emerged on Wednesday that Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has already had an initial interview for the post, with the Black Cats confirming the news and admitting they are seeking a swift resolution to the matter.
Hull have since revealed they have not been approached by the FA for permission to speak to Bruce, who guided the Tigers back to the Premier League last season.
Bruce has said he is flattered to be linked with the job and admitted he would be interested in the position if he was approached but so far that has not happened.
"Hull City confirm there has been no approach from the FA for manager Steve Bruce," read an official statement from the club.
In addition to Bruce and Allardyce, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe and USA boss Jurgen Klinsmann have also been linked with the position.
