If it didn’t really seem as though it was on before, then the 2015 title race was firmly ignited at the Austrian GP as Nico Rosberg claimed one of the best victories of his career to trim Lewis Hamilton’s championship lead to just 10 points.
Indeed, lost amid all the doom and gloom engulfing the sport over its rules and spectacle at the moment, is the tantalising fact that the points difference between the two dominant Mercedes drivers is rather closer than this time last year, when Rosberg led the standings by 29 points.
Reflecting on Rosberg’s victory and an up-and-down weekend for the world champion on the latest F1 Midweek Report are Williams development driver Alex Lynn and former Cosworth F1 boss Mark Gallagher, with Natalie Pinkham chairing the debate.
With Mark in the studio, it would of course be remiss not to talk hybrid engines – and those confusing grid penalties – and the former Cosworth chief has some hard-hitting thoughts on both of those topics.
The seasons of Renault-engined Red Bull and McLaren-Honda certainly got no better in the Spielberg mountains and we get both Alex and Mark’s thoughts on the form of the currently struggling giants.
So for all that, and plenty more post Austria, watch the F1 Midweek Report in the video above!
