GP2 carnage at start of first-ever race on Baku City Circuit

Multi car pile-up at the first corner of the GP2 feature race from Baku.

The Baku City Circuit's first ever race got off to a dramatic start in GP2 when five drivers crashed at the first corner.

Williams development driver Alex Lynn was among the drivers eliminated within seconds of the lights going out after a spinning Norman Nato, the championship leader, triggered the chaos.

The drama didn't stop there as, in a race punctured by four separate Safety Car periods, 11 drivers in total retired as the Azerbaijan circuit proved its ability to bite.
