Video: Kevin Magnussen crashes out of the Belgian GP

Renault’s Kevin Magnussen causes the Belgium GP to be red flagged after a massive crash at Radillon

Renault's Kevin Magnussen has escaped relatively unscathed from a huge crash in Sunday's Belgian GP.

The Dane crashed out at an estimated 200mph at the top of the legendary and high speed Eau Rouge corner but emerged from the mass of debris with nothing worse than an ankle injury.

After a check-up at hospital, Magnussen tweeted a picture of himself leaving the circuit with the message 'Thanks for all your messages folks! On my way home now with a sore ankle but will be ready for Monza'.

The accident occurred when Magnussen, running in eighth, appeared to lose the back end of his car as he went over the exit kerb at the top of Eau Rouge, with the car slewing round and spearing backwards into a heavy impact with the tyre barrier.

Despite the severity of the impact wrecking the crash barriers, causing the race to be red-flagged, Magnussen was able to haul himself out of the wreckage before being helped away from the accident site by race marshals and taken to the medical centre.
