Red Bull's chief engineer Paul Monaghan says there is no danger of the team missing the first pre-season test of 2016 despite still not having an engine supply confirmed.
Having sought to terminate their deal with Renault a year early, Red Bull saw approaches rejected by Mercedes and Ferrari and a Honda supply blocked by McLaren.
It is now thought that Red Bull will purchase a basic unit from Renault and develop it themselves next year.
Until the engineers know exactly what unit they need to fit into the RB12, it is difficult for the design to progress. But despite a revised F1 calendar meaning pre-season testing is now even earlier, Monaghan has no concerns about missing the Barcelona test when it begins on February 22 next year.
"No," was his blunt reply when asked if Red Bull could miss the first test of 2016.
"We are working towards a deal and if one can be achieved it will be announced in time. But we will still make it, don't worry."
Team principal Christian Horner confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ that the team have officially entered the 2016 World Championship and that public announcement was a relief for Daniel Ricciardo.
"It's nice to know. I always had faith I would [drive] but it's the first step towards a better 2016, so it's good news. I'm a bit too young to retire," the Australian said.
Asked what engine would be powering him, Ricciardo kept his cards close to his chest, but did add: "I feel between now and Abu Dhabi we'll hear something."
