Sebastian Vettel comfortably won the Monaco GP but seemed to be helped when Ferrari pitted team-mate Kimi Raikkonen from the lead. So, were their tactics fair?
Polesitter Raikkonen, without a race victory since 2013, was some two seconds clear of the chasing pack, fronted by Vettel, when the Scuderia called the Finn in to the pits on Lap 36.
Vettel proceeded to quicken the pace as Raikkonen struggled in traffic and, when the German emerged from his first stop, the overcut was complete. He went on to claim his second Monaco win by 3.1 seconds, the winning margin narrowed by a late Safety Car.
The strategy, though not against the rules or regulations, worked to Vettel's advantage as he now leads Lewis Hamilton by 25 points in the Drivers' Championship.
"It's still second place but of course, it doesn't feel good," said a despondent Raikkonen after the race.
