Honda has said it is not talking to Manor Marussia about an engine deal for 2016, although it is open to supplying teams other than McLaren in the long-term.
Reports in recent days have suggested a link between Honda and Manor Marussia, who are currently running Ferrari’s 2014 power units in a year-old car.
But although Manor Marussia president Graeme Lowdon has said that their engine supply remains open for next season, the Japanese manufacturer has told Sky Sports Digital: ‘Honda have not been speaking to Manor.’
There has also been speculation that Manor Marussia might serve as a ‘B-team’ to McLaren and, perhaps, a destination for drivers Kevin Magnussen and current GP2 series leader Stoffel Vandoorne.
Meanwhile, Honda, which is returning to F1 this season, said it hopes to supply teams other than McLaren in the years to come.
‘We are invested in F1 for the long term, so having customer teams has always been a consideration for the future,’ it added.
‘However, main priority at the moment is to focus on McLaren-Honda.'
